SPRINGFIELD, MASS. – Skylar Haas was honored as the East Region Specialist of the Week by the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA), the organization announced Monday.

Haas was spectacular on the balance beam during Friday night's meet at Temple, placing third overall against competition from Temple and Bridgeport with a career-best 9.850. That score was just .050 off the school record on beam and is the best single tally by any Division III gymnast on the event this season.

The Bears turned in easily their best performance of the season at the tri-meet in North Philadelphia, unlocking season highs on the bars (47.500) and vault (47.225) on the way to a cumulative 187.200, their highest since the 2018 East Region championship.

An NCGA individual qualifier on beam a year ago, Haas is an NCGA weekly award winner for the first time in her career.

The Bears travel to Springfield on Sunday for a tri-meet that also includes Ithaca.
