Gymnastics Records Season-High Score at Rutgers

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Ursinus College gymnastics team competed with some of the best teams in the nation on Saturday that included No. 6 Minnesota, No. 33 Rutgers, and No. 44 Bowling Green. When all was said and done the Bears improved in all four events, tallying their best overall score of the season.

The Bears started the day with floor exercise. Once again it was Kaylin Knapsack leading the way. The sophomore scored an impressive 9.725 which was just .025 points shy from her score last weekend against Corland in which she won an individual title.

Skylar Haas (9.175) and Emma Gable (9.075) also posted impressive scores in the floor exercise. Gable's 9.075 score bested her last week's 8.8 performance.

From floor exercise, Ursinus moved to beam where Couts impressed with a 9.5 score which was just .025 points behind her career-best that she set last week. Shruthi Anand set a season-high score of 9.375, besting her 8.95 last week while Gable also set a season-high of 9.375.

On bars, the Bears saw strong performances from Alex Panetta (9.5), Abigail Schwerdt (9.150), and Alyssa DeLorme (9.050). DeLorme scored a full point higher than last week against Cortland.

Wrapping up the day, Ursinus made its biggest jump from last week on the beam. After scoring 44.6 last week, the Bears improved by almost a full three points to 47.075. Headlining on the beam was Knapsack who put up an impressive score of 9.675 – a new personal best. Skylar Haas was right behind her with a 9.625. Her 9.625 bested her 8.9 score from last week. Autumn Snape (9.425), Taylor Cusick (9.125), and Anand (9.225) also posted nine-plus scores.
