PHILADELPHIA – Another meet, another record breaking performance for the Ursinus College gymnastics team.
In a quad meet with the University of Pennsylvania, Cornell and West Chester, the Bears set a new team record with a score of 190.475. The Bears had previous set the team record last Saturday at Temple. The 190.74 was just .425 off the top finisher in Penn, and was .150 behind Cornell. West Chester had a 190.725.
In addition, the Bears set a new team record on vault with a 47.975, a team record on beam at 47.900 and a new team record on floor with a 48.225. Ursinus won the beam event in the fourth team meet, and was second on the floor.
The Bears excelled on the beam, taking the first three spots. Teammates Kaelin Ruoss and Kristina Steffenhagen tied for the top spot with a 9.775, with Amanda Palladino going third at 9.725. Katherine Norris posted a 9.425 with Monique Brooks having a 9.175.
On the floor, Steffenhagen was tied for fourth overall with a score of 9.775, followed by Kelsey Jewell in sixth with a score of 9.750. Brooks was tied for eighth with a score of 9.700. Ruoss had a 9.550, with Riley Acton getting a 9.450 and Norris a 9.350.
On the vault, Steffenhagen was fifth with a 9.700, with Kristin Aichele in seventh at 9.650. Acton was Ruoss tied for tenth with a 9.575 with Brooks getting a 9.475.
In the all-around, Ruoss was third with a 38.075.
Finally, on the bars, Kesley Stewart was ninth overall at 9.475, with Palladino in 12th at a 9.325. Lauren Chavis had a 9.275 with Ruoss posting a 9.175 and Acton a 9.125.
