Gymnastics fourth at Calloway Invite

TOWSON, Md. – The Ursinus College women's gymnastics team took fourth a the Shelli Calloway Memorial Invitational Meet hosted by Towson University on Saturday with a score of 182.425.

The Bears posted a team-high 46.775 on the floor, a 45.550 on the beam, a 45.400 on the bars and a 44.700 on the vault.

Headlining the day was a 9.750 on the floor by senior Stephanie Schmidt (Bloomingdale, N.J./Butler), the highest scorer for Ursinus on the afternoon.

Starting with the vault, sophomore Kristin Aichele (Upper Black Eddy, Pa./Palisades) had a team-best 9.300, while Schmidt tallied a 9.250. Senior Johanna Warren (Shakopee, Minn./Hopkins) went for a 8.800, with sophomore Riley Acton (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough) scoring a 8.700. Freshman Kaitlyne Brandau (Johnstown, Pa./Richland) rounded out the scoring at 8.650.

On the bars, Warren posted a team-best 9.425, followed by junior Monica Durham (Baltimore, Md./Catonsville) with a 9.400. Senior Erica Schnebel (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) had a 9.225 with sophomore Jamie Hammell (West Milford, N.J./West Milford High) going for an 8.875. Acton rounded out the scoring with an 8.475.

On the beam, sophomore Karina Marks (Lexington, Md./Great Mills) posted a team-best 9.525. Warren had a 9.250 and Schmidt scored a 9.125. Durham had an 8.850, followed by Aichele with a 8.800.

Following Schmidt's 9.750 on the floor, freshman Kristina Steffenhagen (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) had a 9.650. Durham scored a 9.450, with Marks taking a 9.175. Sophomore Adelaide Hurlbert (Inman, S.C./Spartanburg Day School) posted a 8.750.

Warren, competing in the all-around, had a 35.625 in the four events.

Ursinus has a short week, traveling to West Chester on Friday.
