Gymnastics starts off season with dual meet against West Chester

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The 2013 Ursinus College women's gymnastics team made its debut on Wednesday night, posting a score of 180.675 in a dual meet against West Chester. The Golden Rams won the dual meet with a total score of 183.400.

Of the top six finishers in each four events, Ursinus had the top finisher in two of the events on the evening.

On the bars, junior Monica Durham (Baltimore, Md./Catonsville) won the event with a score of 9.475. Sophomore Jamie Hammell (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) finished in fourth at 9.100.

On the beam, sophomore Kristin Aichele (Upper Black Eddy, PA./Palisades) won the event at 9.600. Senior Johanna Warren (Shakopee, Minn./Hopkins) was fourth with a score of 8.975, while Hammell was sixth at 8.850.

On the vault, Aichele was third overall at 9.525 with Durham going fourth at 9.475.

The floor exercise saw senior Stephanie Schmidt (Bloomingdale, N.J./Butler) in second at 9.475, followed by Warren in fourth at 9.300.

Warren finished with a total score of 35.875 in the all-around competition.

Ursinus heads to Rutgers on Saturday.
