Gymnastics third at Rutgers

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Ursinus College gymnastics team finished third in a tri-meet with Rutgers and Bridgeport on Saturday night with a total team score of 182.425. The Bears posted a 46.550 on the beam, a 46.250 on the vault, a 45.300 on the floor and a 44.325 on the bars.

On the beam, junior Katherine Gelinne (Westfield, N.J./Mount Saint Mary's) and senior Erin Slaunwhite (Halifax, Nova Scotia/Halifax Grammar) tied for top honors on the team with a team score of 9.550, with junior Danielle Michielli (Claymont, Del./Concord) finishing third at 9.500. Freshman Megan Bolash (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) was fourth at 9.250 with sophomore Johanna Warren (Shakoppe, Minn./Hopkins) posting an 8.700.

On the vault, freshman Monica Durham (Baltimore, Md./Catonsville) was first at 9.550, with Warren and sophomore Katlyn Lawver (Newmanstown, Pa./ELCO) finishing tied for third at 9.250. Sophomore Stephanie Schmidt (Bloomingdale, N.J./Butler) was fourth at 9.175, with junior Elle Kurz (Hewlett, N.Y./Hewlett) fifth at 9.025.

The floor exercise saw Schmidt post a 9.300, followed by a 9.125 from Michielli. Warren was third at 9.025, with junior Andrea DeToro (Hopewell, N.J./Monsignor Donovan) in fourth at 8.975. Slaunwhite was fifth at 8.875.

On the bars, sophomore Erica Schnebel (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) was first on the team at 9.150, with Durham taking second at 8.950. Warren was fourth at 8.825, followed by senior Jacki Clymer (Holicong, N.J./Central Bucks East) and Lawver tying at 8.550.

Ursinus will head to the ECAC Championships next weekend at Cortland.
