Gymnastics fifth at Towson

TOWSON, Md. – The Ursinus College gymnastics team finished ffith at the Shelli Calloway Memorial Meet hosted by Towson University on Sunday afternoon with a total score of 185.050, the best team score so far this season.

The Bears, competing against all Division I teams, finished with a 47.725 on the floor, 47.400 on the vault, 46.425 on the beam and a 43.500 on the bars.

On the vault, junior Elle Kurz (Hewlett, N.Y./Hewlett) finished with a team-best 9.575, followed by freshman Monica Durham (Baltimore, Md./Catonsville) in second place with a 9.525. Sophomore Johanna Warren (Shakoppe, Minn./Hopkins) was third at 9.475, with sophomore Katlyn Lawver (Newmanstown, Pa./ELCO) posting a 9.450. Senior Erin Slaunwhite (Halifax, Nova Scotia/Halifax Grammar) was fifth at 9.375.

On the bars, Warren posted a 9.550, with Durham scoring a 9.400. Lawver had an 8.350, followed by senior Jacki Clymer (Holicong, Pa./Central Bucks East) scoring a 8.250.

On the beam, Slaunwhite scored a team-best 9.525, with Durham netting a 9.450. Junior Katherine Gelinne (Westfield, N.J./Mount Saint Mary's) had a 9.400, Warren had a 9.125 followed by junior Danielle Michielli (Claymont, Del./Concord) scoring an 8.925.

On the floor, junior Andrew DeToro (Hopewell, N.J./Monsignor Donovan) and Slaunwhite each had a 9.600, with sophomore Stephanie Schmidt (Bloomingdale, N.J./Butler) scoring a 9.575. Warren had a 9.525, followed by a 9.425 from Michielli.

Warren finished with the team best score in the all-around at 37.675, with Durham having a 37.425.
