Gymnastics defeats Wilson, 179.725 to 165.850

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's gymnastics team defeated Wilson on Saturday afternoon by a 179.725 to 165.850 score. Ursinus took top spots in all four events on the afternoon on the way to the win.

The Bears posted a 46.250 on the floor exercise, a 45.800 on the vault, a 44.200 on the beam and a 43.475 on the bars.

Freshman Monica Durham (Baltimore, Md./Catonsville) led the way on the vault, scoring a 9.475, followed by sophomore Johanna Warren (Shakoppe, Minn./Hopkins) with a 9.225. Junior Elle Kurz (Hewlett, N.Y./Hewlett) was in third with a 9.175, with senior Erin Slaunwhite (Halifax, Nova Scotia/Halifax Grammar) posting a 8.975 in fifth place.

On the bars, Warren took the top spot overall, posting a 9.375. Senior Jacki Clymer (Holicong, Pa./Central Bucks East) was third with a 8.800, followed by Durham in fourth with a 8.750. Erica Schnebel was in fifth at 8.550.

Junior Danielle Michielli (Claymont, Del./Concord) was first on the balance beam at 9.150, followed by Slaunwhite in second place of 9.050. Durham was fourth with an 8.850, with Warren posting a 8.575 along with junior Katherine Gelinne (Westfield, N.J./Mount Saint Mary's).

Slaunwhite won the floor exercise at 9.500, with sophomore Stephanie Schmidt (Bloomingdale, N.J./Bulter) in second at 9.400 and Michielli in third at 9.300. Warren was fifth at 9.075 followed by Durham in sixth at 8.975.

Warren took second in the all-around with a total score of 36.250, followed by Durham in third at 36.050.
