SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Ursinus senior gymnast Kira Oldham-Curtis (Eugene, Ore./South Eugene) saved the best for last.
In her final meet for Ursinus College, the senior won the national championship in both the All-Around competition and the balance beam competition at the 2010 NCGA Nationals hosted by Springfield College.
Friday night, Oldham-Curtis won the all-around competition with a score of 38.375, edging out Meghan Hargens of University of Wisconsin-Stout who had a 38.050. She had a 9.625 on vault, 9.400 on bars, 9.575 on the beam and a 9.775 on the floor.
Saturday afternoon, she added to her weekend total by winning the balance beam competition with a score of 9.625. Sophomore Katherine Gelinne (Westfield, N.Y./Mount Saint Mary’s) was ninth in the competition as well, scoring a 9.300. Gelinne earned second-team All-American honors.
On the bars, Oldham-Curtis was tied for fourth with a score of 9.275, which earned her first-team All-American honors. Freshman Johanna Warren (Shakoppe, Minn./Hopkins) was 12th overall, with a mark of 8.500. She was second-team All-American.
On the vault, Oldham-Curtis was second-team All-American with a score of 8.975, while she just missed All-American honors on the floor with a score of 9.100 in 13th place. Freshman Stephanie Schmidt (Bloomingdale, N.J./Butler) was 15th with a mark of 8.900.
