TOWSON, Md. - The Ursinus College gymnastics team finished fifth
at the Shelli Calloway Memorial Invitational Meet on Saturday
afternoon with a team score of 184.575. The Bears were the only
Division III school in attendance, in a meet that featured all
Division I schools.
For the Bears, senior Kira Oldham-Curtis (Eugene,
Ore./South Eugene) finished third in the All-Around
competition with a mark of 37.400. She had a 9.500 on the vault,
9.525 on the bars, 8.750 on the beam and 9.625 on the floor. Her
mark on the floor exercise was tied for 10th overall
with freshman Stephanie Schmidt (Bloomingdale,
N.J./Butler).
Oldham-Curtis had the best mark on the vault for Ursinus, followed
by Schmidt with a 9.350. Freshman Johanna Warren (Shakoppe,
Minn./Hopkins) had a 9.325, followed by sophomore
Elle Kurz (Hewlett, N.Y./Hewlett) with a
9.275.Senior Gianna Paone (Warrington, Pa./Mt. Saint
Joseph) was next with a 9.125, followed by junior
Veronica Perry (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury)
with a 9.100.
Junior Danielle Chmelewski (West Chester, Pa./W.C.
Henderson) tied Oldham-Curtis for the top mark on the bars
with a 9.525, followed by Warren with a 9.475. Paone had a 9.125,
followed by junior Jackie Clymer (Hoiicong, Pa./Central
Bucks East) with an 8.825.
On the beam, freshman Allison Nichols (Schnecksville,
Pa./Parkland) had the top mark with a score of 9.400.
Junior Brittany Ang (Ocean City, N.J./Ocean City)
was second on the team with a score of 9.300. After Oldham-Curtis,
Schmidt had an 8.500, Chmelewski had an 8.450, with sophomore
Katherine Gelinne (Westfield, N.Y./Mount St.
Mary's) picking up an 8.350.
Finally, Schmidt and Oldham-Curtis tied for the top team mark on
the floor. Sophomore Andrea DeToro (Hopewell,
N.J./Monsignor Donovan) had a 9.375, followed by Perry
with a 9.350 and Ang with a 9.150.
