COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - With just two weeks remaining till ECAC
Championships, the Ursinus College gymnastics team finished second
at a home tri-meet Saturday afternoon.
The Bears finished with a team score of 181.500, while Ithaca won
the event with a score of 184.925. Wilson College scored a
167.600.
For Ursinus, senior Kira Oldham-Curtis (Eugene, Ore./South
Eugene) had a 37.800 in the all-around competition,
finishing in first place. Oldham-Curtis won the floor exercise with
a score of 9.600.
Junior Danielle Chmelewski (West Chester, Pa./West Chester
Henderson) won the bars completion with score of 9.500.
Oldham-Curtis was second on the team with a score of 9.400,
followed by junior Jackie Clymer (Holicong, Pa./C.B.
East) with an 8.750, senior Gianna Paone
(Warrington, Pa./Mount Saint Joseph) with an 8.400 and
freshman Allison Nichols (Schnecksville,
PA./Parkland) scored an 8.300. Freshman Johanna
Warren (Shakoppe, Minn./Hopkins) had a 7.900.
On the vault, Oldham-Curtis had a team-best 9.450, followed by
freshman Stephanie Schmidt (Bloomingdale,
N.J./Butler) with a 9.375. Warren had a 9.326, with
sophomore Elle Kurz (Hewlett, N.Y./Hewlett)
scoring a 9.200. Junior Veronica Perry (Glastonbury,
Conn./Glastonbury) scored a 9.075, followed by Paone with
a 8.950.
On the beam, Oldham-Curtis again had the team best score with a
9.350. Chmelewski had a 9.250, followed by sophomore
Katherine Gelinne (Westfield, N.Y./Mount Saint
Mary's) with a 9.100. Schmidt scored an 8.700, followed by
Nichols with an 8.350. Junior Brittany Ang (Ocean City,
N.J./Ocean City) scored an 8.250.
Aside from Oldham-Curtis high score on the floor, Perry had a
9.275, followed by Schmidt with a 9.175. Sophomore Andrea
DeToro (Hopewell, N.J./Monsignor Donovan) scored a 9.050,
followed by Ang with an 8.875. Freshman Katlyn Lawver
(Newmanstown, Pa./ELCO) had a 8.525.
Ursinus will host West Chester on Friday.
