Frey Earns PhilaFH Weekly Award

PhilaFH Release

PHILADELPHIA – After a dazzling display in her debut as starting goalie, Ursinus College's Addie Frey was recognized as a PhilaFH Defensive Player of the Week.

Frey piled up a remarkable 17 saves in the Bears' 5-4, double-overtime loss to Rowan in last week's season opener.

Frey was thrown right into the fire in her first career start, taking on a Rowan side ranked 3rd in the country and fresh off an appearance in the Final Four. She alleviated any doubts early, making four saves in quick succession in the first seven minutes and allowing the Bears to take a 1-0 lead on a successful penalty corner in the 12th minute.

Frey made 11 saves in the first half and four in overtime alone, giving Ursinus a chance all the way until the Profs won it with about five minutes remaining in the second extra session.

Frey's 17 saves were the most by an Ursinus goalie since Jessica Lamina had 26 against Messiah in 2005.
