Field Hockey Fields Four on All-CC Team

Complete All-CC Team

LANCASTER, Pa. – Four members of the Ursinus College field hockey team received All-Centennial Conference recognition for their performances during the 2018 campaign.

Senior Bridget Sherry and junior Erin Saybolt, both repeat selections, were named to the first team. Senior Mikayla Jordan and sophomore Devon Carroll received honorable mention to their first all-conference roster.

Sherry caps her distinguished tenure with a fourth All-CC nod. A repeat first-team honoree, the backbone of the Bears' defense started 16 games this season and led the way with three defensive saves for an Ursinus team that surrendered just 18 goals in 18 contests. A veteran of 72 starts, Sherry finished her career with eight goals and one assist, including the game-winning penalty stroke in the 2016 CC championship game.

Saybolt ascended to the first team after a second-team season as a sophomore. The 2016 CC rookie of the year ranks second in the league with 13 goals and 29 points, both team highs. Saybolt started every game and had a couple of big performances against playoff teams, pairing two goals with an assist in a 4-0 shutout of Dickinson and netting her first career hat trick against Muhlenberg. Six of her goals were game-winners, including one in a 2-1 overtime defeat of Washington College.

Jordan ends her career with her first nomination to the all-conference squad. A steady back who started every game alongside Sherry over the last two years, Jordan was also the Bears' inserter for penalty corners. The new role paid off with a CC-leading seven assists in addition to scoring the first four goals of her career.

Carroll took a big step forward as a sophomore, finishing second on the team with nine goals and six assists as a primary offensive weapon. The midfielder caught fire midway through the season with five goals and an assist in a stretch of three games, highlighted by two goals and an assist against Dickinson and a two-goal effort at nationally ranked F&M.

Junior Anna Hall was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team. In addition to her spirit of fair play and sportsmanship, Hall started all 18 games in the defensive midfield, finishing with one assist and one defensive save.
