LANCASTER, Pa. – Sophomore forward Katerine DeLuca of the Ursinus College field hockey team earned the first Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week award of the season.

DeLuca made her first career start a memorable one, scoring two goals and assisting on another in the Bears' 5-3 victory over Rowan last Friday. Her five points were more than she had all of last season.

DeLuca had a hand in the first goal of the season, carrying possession in the right side of the circle before drawing defenders and sliding a pass across the crease to senior Brooke Overly just over three minutes into the contest. After the Profs equalized, DeLuca tapped in a rebound to give Ursinus a 2-1 lead.

Rowan stormed back with two unanswered tallies to grab a 3-2 advantage before classmate Gemma Dufoe scored two consecutive goals, and DeLuca's tap-in with 58 seconds remaining in the first half gave the Bears a critical insurance marker.

DeLuca and the Bears welcome top-ranked and defending national champion Messiah to Snell Field for a 7 p.m. showdown on Wednesday.
