Steigerwalt Earns Weekly Recognition From NFHCA

NFHCA Release

CHANDLER, Ariz. – Ursinus College senior forward Amber Steigerwalt earned honorable mention for the title of Longstreth/NFHCA Division III Offensive Player of the Week, it was announced Wednesday.

Steigerwalt put up a pair of goals and three assists in a pair of Centennial Conference victories for the No. 7 Bears (13-4, 8-1 CC). The co-captain scored the first goal in a 3-1 win at Washington College before pairing a goal with a career-best three assists to lead Ursinus to a 5-1 rout of Dickinson on Saturday.

Steigerwalt, who received CC Offensive Player of the Week laurels, leads the Bears with 13 goals and is tied with junior Brooke Overly for the team lead in points (30). She is the first Ursinus player this season to garner weekly recognition from the NFHCA.

Ursinus closes the regular season with a massive showdown against No. 12 Muhlenberg on Saturday. Steigerwalt will be honored alongside classmates Ann Kopera, Colleen Leahy, Aliki Torrence, and Rachel Zane before the Bears and Mules clash for the right to host the CC semifinals and final. If Ursinus wins by at least two goals, it will host the conference championship.
