Steigerwalt Named CC Offensive Player of the Week

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – After leading the Ursinus College field hockey team to a pair of victories, senior forward Amber Steigerwalt was selected as the Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week, as announced Monday by the league office.

Steigerwalt produced two goals and three assists in wins at Washington College and at home against Dickinson. The co-captain opened the scoring to spark the 8th-ranked Bears to a 3-1 result in Chestertown on Wednesday. She followed that up with a goal and a career-high three assists – she had one assist in the first 15 games of the season – as Ursinus coasted to an impressive 5-1 rout of playoff-bound Dickinson on Saturday.

Steigerwalt's recent surge has vaulted her into fourth in the conference in both goals (13) and points (30). She now ranks sixth in program history in each of those categories (54 goals, 133 points).

The Bears close out the regular season with a pair of home games, first against Catholic on Tuesday before Muhlenberg comes to town Saturday for a de facto CC regular-season title game. If Ursinus defeats the Mules by more than one goal, it will host the conference championship tournament.
