Keenan Repeats as Academic All-Area Performer of the Year

PHILADELPHIA – Ursinus College senior midfielder Megan Keenan's legendary and ever-expanding career resume added another impressive line item today, when she was chosen as the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Field Hockey Performer of the Year.

As prolific in the classroom as she is on the field, Keenan has fulfilled the ideal of "student-athlete" since arriving on campus. A psychology major with a 3.87 GPA, she is the Academic All-Area Performer of the Year for the second straight season. The CC Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2014, Keenan is a three-time CC Academic Honor Roll nominee, and was recently named to the inaugural Fall Academic All-Centennial Team. At this year's Final Four, she was presented with the Elite 90 Award, given annually to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships.

The Bears' first three-time first-team NFHCA All-American since Kaitlyn Sutherland (2006-08), Keenan is the program's all-time leader in shots (519). She stands second in school history in goals (76), assists (52), and points (204), all of which rank within the top five in the CC record books. She is a three-time Centennial Conference Player of the Year and two-time South Region Player of the Year. Topping  the conference in goals (21), assists (20), and points (62), Keenan guided the Bears to their 11th league crown in 12 seasons and an appearace in the NCAA Final Four in 2015.

Keenan is joined on the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Field Hockey Team by Gwynedd Mercy's Stephanie Bacho, Eastern's Megan Bolton, Temple's duo of Sarah Deck and Alyssa Delp, Neumann's Becky Guinto, Drexel's Lauren Hibshman, Penn's Elizabeth Hitti, Widener's Mikayla Ninos, West Chester's Kristina Scherrer, and Haverford's Sarah Waldis. The team is voted on by the sports information offices of the 28 institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
