Keenan Chosen NFHCA South Region Player of the Year

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – For the second year in a row, Ursinus College senior midfielder Megan Keenan (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) was selected as the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III South Region Player of the Year, it was announced today. Keenan is the first student-athlete to earn the South Region's top honor in back-to-back seasons. She joins Bowdoin's Rachel Kennedy, the New England West Regional Player of the Year, as repeat selections from last season.

The regional accolade is the latest in a historic career for Keenan, who collected her third straight Centennial Conference Player of the Year award after leading the conference in goals (21), assists (20), and points (62). The first player in CC history to attain first-team all-conference status all four years, Keenan also boasts four consecutive all-region first team laurels. She can garner first-team NFHCA All-America status for the third straight season when the teams are announced on Monday, December 7.

A standout performer in the classroom as well, Keenan received the Elite 90 Award, presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA championships. She was the CC's Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2014, when she also received recognition as the Philadelphia Inquirer All-Area Performer of the Year.

Keenan is Ursinus' all-time leader in shots (519) and ranks second in school history in goals (76), assists (52), and points (204). The MVP of the CC Championship, Keenan led the Bears to their 11th league title in 12 years and to their first appearance in the NCAA semifinals since 2010.

The Longstreth/NFHCA Division III National Player of the Year will be announced on Wednesday, December 9.
