COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The accolades keep on coming for Ursinus College field hockey standout Megan Keenan (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson). Continuing to add to her remarkable resume of on- and off-field accomplishment, the Bears' senior midfielder was recognized with the Elite 90 award for the 2015 NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship at tonight's banquet in Lexington, Virginia on the campus of Washington and Lee.

The Elite 90, an award founded by the NCAA, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The Elite 90 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships.

Eligible student-athletes are sophomores or above who have participated in their sport for at least two years with their school. They must be an active member of the team and a designated member of the squad size at the championship. All ties are broken by the number of credits completed.

Keenan's four years with the Bears have been rife with honors, both for her play on the field and her work in the classroom. The senior star recently became the first player since Swarthmore's Danielle Duffy (1995-97) to be named Centennial Conference Player of the Year for the third consecutive season, and she is the first player in CC history to earn four straight first-team honors. A first-team NFHCA All-American in 2013 and 2014, Keenan leads fourth-ranked Ursinus in goals (21), assists (20), and points (62), ranking second in Division III in assists per game (0.95) and ninth in points per game (2.76) through games of November 15. With Keenan leading the way, the Bears boast a record of 19-3 and find themselves in the NCAA semifinals for the first time since 2011.

A psychology major with a 3.87 GPA, Keenan this week was named to the Fall Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll for the third time. She was honored as the CC Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2014, when she was also voted the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Field Hockey Performer of the Year.
