Field Hockey wins Centennial opener over Gettysburg

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ninth-ranked Ursinus blew open a one-goal game at intermission by scoring four times in the second half as the Bears (4-1, 1-0 Centennial) defeated Gettysburg (3-2, 0-1 Centennial) 5-0 on Saturday afternoon in field hockey action.

Senior midfielder Megan Keenan (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) scored three goals, all in the second half as Ursinus held a 46-4 advantage in shots.

Keenan scored goals in the 50th, 57th and 59th minutes for the Bears.

Ursinus' lone goal came 6:06 into the game when junior forward Amber Steigerwalt (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) scored off of a deflection.

The next goal for Ursinus came at 42:05 when junior defender Ann Kopera (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) scored unassisted. Keenan then scored the next three.

In goal, senior goalkeeper Danielle DeSpirito (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood) made three saves.

Ursinus will host Rowan on Wednesday, before a big show down with F&M on Saturday.
