Buczek sets CC assist record as FH races past Swarthmore, 13-1

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus College freshman forward Catherine Buczek (Wind Gap, Pa./Nazareth) set a new Centennial Conference record with five assists as the Bears (7-1, 4-0 Centennial) defeated Swarthmore (1-9, 0-3 Centennial) 13-1 on Wednesday afternoon in field hockey action.

Ursinus, ranked sixth in Division III, held a 36-4 edge on shots as ten different people scored in the win.

Buczek's five assists breaks the record of four held by seven different players, including Ursinus alums, Catherine Bitterly, Jennie Moore and Molly Stevens. Buczek also scored a goal in the win.

Junior midfielder Megan Keenan (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson), junior forward Devin Brakel (West Windsor, N.J./West Windsor Plainsboro North) and senior midfielder Maddie Craig (Cape May, N.J./Lower Cape May) each scored two goals on the day, as Ursinus had an 8-0 lead at intermission.

Junior goalkeeper Danielle DeSpirito (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood) played the first 35 minutes without facing a shot, while freshman Sydney Godbey (Mercersburg, Pa./Mercersburg) had one save in the second half.

Ursinus will host McDaniel on Saturday, then play the annual Snell Cup game on Sunday at West Chester.
