Field Hockey blanks Bryn Mawr, 8-0

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus got two goals each from sophomore midfielder Stephanie Cooper (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) and sophomore defender Megan Keenan (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson), who each also had an assist, as the Bears (3-1, 2-0 Centennial) defeated Bryn Mawr (3-3, 0-1 Centennial) 8-0 on Wednesday night in field hockey play.

Cooper scored at the end of the first half and in the beginning of the second half, while Keenan scored two goals in the span of 1:11 as the Bears remained undefeated at home.

Ursinus, who outshot the Owls 51-1, got on the board when sophomore forward Devin Brakel (West Windsor, N.J./West Windsor Plainsboro North) scored at 13:55. After Cooper scored at 26:39, on an freshman midfielder Amber Steigerwalt (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) assist, Cooper scored again at 36:45 on an assist by Keenan for a 3-0 lead.

Annie Kopera scored unassisted at 54:38, followed by a goal fro Keenan at 55:36. Sophomore forward Danielle Stong (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) assisted on Keenan's first goal, while Cooper assisted on Keenan's second at 56:47.

Senior Jenna Stover (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) scored a goal at 59:29 on a Kopera assist, while junior midfielder Mallory Carcia (Yardley, Pa./George School) scored at 66:42 unassisted.

Sophomore goalkeeper Danielle DeSpirito (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood) pitched the shutout, her second of the season. 

Ursinus hosts nationally-ranked F&M on Saturday.
