Field Hockey runs past Dickinson, 7-1

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College field hockey team was propelled by a three-goal effort by freshman Megan Keenan (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) in Saturday's win over the visiting Red Devils of Dickinson College (7-9, 2-7 Centennial) by a 7-1 score. 

Keenan's goals came in the 42nd, 51st, and 59th minutes of action.  She netted three goals without an assist, was assisted by senior midfielder Julie Pilla (Mullica Hill, N.J./Gloucester Catholic) on one.

Another freshman turning in an outstanding performance for Ursinus was forward Danielle Stong (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown Area), who added a hat trick of her own.  Her goals came in the 16th, 22nd, and 64th minutes of play.  She was assisted by Pilla, freshman Samantha Macchio (Reading, Conn./Joel Barlow), and freshman Devin Brakel (West Windsor, N.J./West Windsor Plainsboro).  Macchio had two assists in the win.

Ursinus got a goal from senior forward Catherine Bitterly (Rumson, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven) early in the contest. 

For Dickinson, senior Alex Boorse tallied their only goal in the 22nd minute, immediately after Stong's second of the afternoon to make the score 3-1. 

In goal, Ursinus got one save from Danielle DeSpirito while Dickinson goalkeeper got ten saves from Katy Schlectweg.

Ursinus is back in action Tuesday as they host nationally ranked Catholic University.  Game time is 4:30 PM.
