CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Washington College scored a goal 4:18 into overtime as the Shorewomen (9-6, 5-2 Centennial) defeated Ursinus (7-7, 4-4 Centennial) 3-2 Wednesday night in field hockey play.
Ursinus had trailed 2-1 after the first half, but, tied the game with 2:02 left in regulation when the Bears pulled freshman goalkeeper Danielle DeSpirito (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood) for an extra attacker.
In that time frame, freshman defender Megan Keenan (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) scored her sixth goal of the season on a loose ball blast to tie the score at 2-all.
Ursinus trailed 1-0 in the first half, before a goal by senior forward Rachel Pandl (Columbus, N.J./Northern Burlington) on an assist by senior forward Alex Shafi (Watchung, N.J./Watchung Hills) tied the score at 1-all.
DeSpirito finished with 13 saves for the Bears, who will host Dickinson on Saturday.
