Field Hockey takes care of McDaniel, 3-1

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College Field Hockey team (4-4, 2-2 CC) snapped a two-game losing streak with a 3-1 victory over visiting McDaniel College (4-5, 1-3 CC) on Saturday.  

Freshman Megan Keenan (Sinking Spring, Pa./Sinking Spring) converted a penalty corner just under four minutes into the match for the Bears' first goal of the game.  

Sophomore Nora Kornfeld (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Seminary) took a pass from Keenan and put it into the back of the cage with just under six minutes elapsed in the second half to put the Bears up 2-0.  

Senior Julie Pilla converted a pass from freshman Samantha Macchio (Redding, Conn./Joel Barlow High School) for the Bears' third goal of the game in the 63rd minute.

The Green Terror rallied late, however, pulling within two with just fewer than five minutes remaining as freshman Sarah Reynolds converted a pass from Paige Messersmith for McDaniel's only goal of the contest.  

In goal, sophomore Brittany Dolson (Gloucester City, N.J./Gloucester City) made four saves.

The Bears host Centennial Conference foe Haverford College on Wednesday.  Game time is 7:00 PM.
