Field Hockey blanked by TCNJ, 2-0

EWING, N.J. – In a rematch of the 2012 NCAA Division III Field Hockey semifinals, The College of New Jersey (7-0) scored a goal in each half as the Lions handed Ursinus (3-4) a 2-0 loss Thursday evening.

Jillian Nealon and Erin Healy each scored for the third-ranked Lions in the win, as they held a 21-5 shot advantage.

Ursinus had a chance to cut the deficit with just under eight minutes remaining, but were denied by TCNJ goalie Roisin Dougherty. The play started on the near end line with Ursinus forward Samantha Macchio (Redding, Conn./Joel Barlow) carrying the ball along the line and sending a centering pass to an open Stephanie Cooper (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West). Cooper got off a quick one-timer, but Dougherty quickly got over to not only make the save, but thwarted Cooper's attempt at poking in the rebound.

In goal, sophomore Brittney Dolson (Gloucester City, N.J./Gloucester City) kept the Bears in it as she made 11 saves on the night.

Ursinus will host McDaniel Saturday afternoon.
