Field Hockey doubles up Swarthmore, 4-2

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus College freshman defender Megan Keenan (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) scored two goals, while two others found the back of the cage as 16th-ranked Ursinus (3-2, 1-1 Centennial) defeated Swarthmore (5-2, 0-2 Centennial) 4-2 on Wednesday night in field hockey play.

Keenan scored in the 6th and 65th minutes for the Bears, while senior midfielder Julie Pilla (Mullica Hill, N.J./Gloucester Catholic) and freshman forward Devin Brakel (West Windsor, N.J./West Windsor Plainsboro North) each had a goal.

Sophomore defender Nora Kornfeld (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Seminary) and senior forward Catherine Bitterly (Rumson, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven) each had assists.

Katie Teleky had two goals for Swarthmore.

Keenan scored her first goal, and the lone of the first half for both teams, at 5:37 for 1-0 lead.

The next five goals were all scored within a 7:17 span, as Pilla scored at 62:30 for a 2-0 lead, followed by a goal from Keenan on a Kornfeld assist at 64:39 for a 3-0 lead.

Teleky scored for Swarthmore on an assist by Aarti Rao at 66:07 for a 3-1 Ursinus lead, before Brakel scored on a Bitterly assists at 69:22 for a 4-1 lead.

Teleky added her second goal of the game at 69:47.

In goal, sophomore goalkeeper Brittney Dolson (Gloucester City, N.J./Gloucester City) had one save in the first half, while sophomore goalkeeper Paige McElhenny had one save in the second half.

Ursinus heads to F&M on Saturday.
