Closing It Out

ALLENTOWN, Pa. -  Ursinus scored twice in the first half, including the game winner in the 32nd minute, as the Bears (14-3, 9-1 Centennial) defeated Muhlenberg (5-12, 2-8 Centennial) 2-1 Friday night in field hockey action.

Sophmore Jenna Stover (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) scored the game-winning goal at 31:30 off of a penalty corner for the game-winner. 

Ursinus took an early 1-0 lead in the 13th minute as senior forward Corinne Freeman (Freehold, N.J./St. John Vienney) scored off of a corner on an assist from senior forward Alyssa Thren (Barto, Pa./Upper Perkiomen).

Muhlenberg evened the score as Erin Cummings scored on close range shot off of a pass from Renee Norton. 

From there, it was all senior goalkeeper Jill Lukens (Furlong, Pa./Central Bucks East) as she made five of her six saves in the final 35 minutes.

Ursinus will open up the Centennial Conference playoffs next Saturday as the two seed. The tournament will be hosted by Franklin & Marshall.
