Three is the Magic Number

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Tenth-ranked Ursinus took a 2-0 lead in the opening part of the second half, on the way to a 3-1 win over Haverford in a key Centennial Conference field hockey matchup.

Ursinus got goals from junior forward Catherine Bitterly (Rumson, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven), junior midfielder Julie Pilla (Mullica Hill, N.J./Gloucester Catholic) and junior midfielder Rachel Pandl (Columbus, N.J./Northern Burlington) in the win. Bitterly scored in the fifth minute of the match unassisted for her fifth goal of the season. Pilla added her goal off an assist from senior defender Nicole Hanby (Bear, Del./William Penn) at 38:47 for a 2-0 lead, following a penalty corner.

Haverford's Margaret Selsor scored in the 48th minute off of a penalty corner via an assist from Mary Hobbs.

Pandl's goal came at 54:05 unassisted.

Senior goalkeeper Jill Lukens (Furlong, Pa./Central Bucks East) had nine saves in the win.

Ursinus will host Johns Hopkins on Saturday.
