WESTMINSTER, Md. – Ursinus senior forward Alyssa Thren (Barto, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) scored two goals as the seventh-ranked Bears (7-2, 4-1 Centennial) defeated McDaniel (6-3, 2-2 Centennial) 3-1 Saturday afternoon in the driving rain in field hockey action.
Thren scored in the 8th and 66th minutes as the Bears snapped a two-game skid.
Junior forward Alex Shafi (Watchung, N.J./Watchung Hills) scored the other goal for the Bears, just 1:44 into the second half giving the Bears a 2-0 advantage.
McDaniel's lone goal came from Hope Battista off of an assist from Kathryn Corson at 45:56.
Ursinus goalkeeper Jill Lukens (Furlong, Pa./C.B. East) had five saves as she faced eight shots on the night.
The Bears head to Haverford on Wednesday.
