Field Hockey falls short against TCNJ, 2-1

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The College of New Jersey's junior forward Caitlyn Jenkins scored two goals, including the game winner with just under nine minutes remaining as the 15th-ranked Lions (7-1) defeated seventh-ranked Ursinus (6-2) 2-1 on Tuesday night in field hockey play.

Jenkins' shot came at 61:21 as she was fed the ball from junior defender Christy Wham on the left side of the cage for the winner.

After a scoreless first half, which saw Ursinus hold a 5-1 edge in shots and a 4-0 advantage in corners, Jenkins broke the deadlock with a goal at 40:17 off of a deflection.

Ursinus tied the score at 1-all at 46:44 when senior forward Corinne Freeman (Freehold, N.J./St. John Vienney) scored. The Bears had a shot to tie it at the end, but, did not convert on two corner attempts.

In goal, both TCNJ senior Shannon Syciarz and Ursinus senior Jill Lukens (Furlong, Pa./Central Bucks East) had two saves.
