Field Hockey takes down SUNY-Cortland, 6-0

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus senior forward Jennifer Bayzick (Sugarloaf, Pa./Hazelton Area) had three goals and an assist as the third-ranked Bears (14-1) moved their win streak to 14 straight with a 6-0 blanking of ninth-ranked  SUNY-Cortland on Saturday afternoon.

Bayzick scored in the 16th, 47th and 64th minutes as the Bears won a key regional game over the Red Dragons (13-2).

Junior forward Alyssa Thren (Barto, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) scored the first goal on a lift following a corner by Bayzick at 2:43 for the 1-0 lead. Bayzick added her first goal at 15:04 on a blast from the top left of the circle, making the score 2-0.

In the second half, Bayzick scored at 46:57 on an assist from senior midfielder Bridget Resetco (West Chester, Pa./Downingtown West), with Resetco assisting on the next goal by senior forward Megan Yoder (Lititz, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) at 57:11 for a  4-0 lead.

Resetco scored her lone goal of the game at 59:36 on an assist by senior midfielder Michelle Wimmer (Palm, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) for a 5-0 lead, followed by a goal from Bayzick on a penalty corner at 63:31.

Senior goalkeeper LauraLee Lightwood-Mater (Bethlehem, Pa./George School) needed to make one save as the Bears had a 36-5 advantage on shots.
