WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Senior forward Jennifer Bayzick (Sugarloaf, Pa./Hazleton Area) scored a game-high three goals, including the game winner 3:29 into overtime as the Bears (10-1) defeated West Chester (6-6) 4-3 in the annual Snell Cup game at Vonnie Gros Field on Sunday afternoon.
Bayzick scored a goal in each half and in the overtime in leading Ursinus to its tenth straight win.
Junior forward Alyssa Thren (Barto, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) had a goal and an assist as the Bears retained possession of the Snell Cup for the second straight year.
Bayzick's goal came at 73:29 into the game on an assist by Thren for the winner. She scored her first goal at 9:50 for a 1-0 lead.
West Chester tied the score at 1-all as Nicole Fiorilla scored her fifth goal of the season, but, the Bears went back up 2-1 at 27:45 as Thren scored her lone goal of the game.
In the second half, the Golden Rams tied the score at 2-all as Leah Angstadt scored on assists by Courtney Wolff and Alyssa Gallen. Bayzick scored at 58:08, giving the Bears a 3-2 lead. Senior midfielder Bridget Resetco (West Chester, Pa./Downingtown West) got the assist.
The Rams sent the game into overtime as Angstadt scored her second goal of the game on a penalty stroke.
Senior goalkeeper LauraLee Lightwood-Mater (Bethlehem, Pa./George School) had five saves in the win.
