Field Hockey blasts Gettysburg, 7-1

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Ursinus junior forward Alyssa Thren (Palm, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) scored four goals as the Bears (7-1, 4-0 Centennial) started off a two-game in two-day swing with a 7-1 win over Gettysburg (4-4, 2-2 Centennial) Friday afternoon.

Thren scored two times in each half as the Bears rattled off 40 shots to Gettysburg's two.

Senior forward Jennifer Bayzick (Sugarloaf, Pa./Hazelton Area) scored three goals for the Bears in the win.

Thren scored at 9:10 and 14:07 to give Ursinus a 2-0 lead, followed by Bayzick's first goal at 23:53 on an assist from senior midfielder Megan Yoder (Lititz, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite).

Gettysburg's lone goal game from Martha Tahsler just 1:56 into the second half to cut the lead to 3-1.

Bayzick then scored back-to-back goals at 60:34 and 64:27 for a 5-1 lead. Yoder assisted on the second Bayzick goal at 64:27, her second assist of the day.

Thren scored at 68:10 on a pass from senior midfielder Bridget Resetco (West Chester, Pa./Downingtown West), followed by her final goal at 69:38.

Ursinus goes to McDaniel Saturday afternoon.
