Field Hockey blanks Bryn Mawr, 13-0

BRYN MAWR, Pa. – Ursinus banged out 46 shots as the Bears (3-1, 1-0 Centennial) defeated Bryn Mawr (0-4, 0-2 Centennial) 13-0 in field hockey action on Wednesday afternoon.

The Bears scored six times in the first half on the way to the win.

Sophomore forward Catherine Bitterly (Rumson, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven) scored a career-high four goals and added one assist, while junior forward Alyssa Thren (Barto, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) had three goals in the win.

Seven different players scored for the Bears, with freshman forward Kara Bowen (Forty Fort, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) adding in two goals. Sophomore forward Julie Pilla (Mullica Hill, N.J./Gloucester Catholic) had two assists for Ursinus.

In goal, senior LauraLee Lightwood-Mater (Bethlehem, Pa./George School) and junior Jill Lukens (Furlong, Pa./Central Bucks East) each had a save as they split time in goal. Lightwood-Mater played the first half, while Lukens had the second.
