ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Fourth-ranked Ursinus scored three goals in
each half as the Bears (10-2, 4-0 Centennial) defeated Muhlenberg
(6-4, 2-2 Centennial) 6-1 on Wednesday night in Centennial
Conference field hockey play.
Junior forward Jennifer Bayzick (Sugarloaf, Pa./Hazleton
Area) scored two goals in the first 16 minutes as the
Bears outshot the Muhls 44-8.
Bayzick scored on an assist from senior forward Jessica
Zatwarnicki (Reading, Pa./Exeter) at 9:37 for a 1-0 lead,
then she scored on a rebound at 16:11 for a 2-0 lead.
Megan Yoder scored the Bears' third goal at 28:33 for a 3-0
lead.
Junior back Lindsey Doutt (Willow Street,
Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) scored her second goal near the
top of the circle 4:36 into the second half for a 4-0 lead.
Nicki Notarianni scored the Mules lone goal at 40:06 to cut the
Ursinus lead to 4-1.
Senior forward Jen Hooven (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster
Catholic) scored her tenth goal of the season at 59:53 on
an assist from junior midfielder Michelle Wimmer (Palm,
Pa./Upper Perkiomen) for a 5-1 lead, followed by a goal
from sophomore forward Alyssa Thren (Barto, Pa./Upper
Perkiomen) at 62:39 for the final score of the game.
Senior goalkeeper Erica Scott (Carney's Point, N.J./St.
Elizabeth) made one save in 52 minutes, while junior
goalkeeper LauraLee Lightwood-Mater (Bethlehem, Pa./George
School) made thre saves in 17 minutes of play.
Ursinus goes to F&M on Saturday.
