CARLISLE, Pa. - Six different players scored for fifth-ranked
Ursinus as the Bears (6-2, 1-0 Centennial) defeated Dickinson (2-5,
0-1 Centennial) 6-0 Saturday afternoon in field hockey action.
The Bears held Dickinson to just four shots in the contest, while
racking up 21 shots.
The first game off the stick of junior forward Jennifer
Bayzick (Sugarloaf, Pa./Hazleton Area) at 4:35 for a 1-0
lead, followed by a goal from junior midfielder Megan Yoder
(Lititz, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) 20 seconds later making
the score 2-0.
Right before halftime, junior midfielder Bridget Resetco
(West Chester, Pa./Downingtown West) scored at 34:30 on an
assist from junior midfielder Michelle Wimmer (Palm,
Pa./Upper Perkiomen) for a 3-0 lead in the first half.
At 37:50, senior forward Jessica Zatwarnicki (Reading,
Pa./Exeter) scored to give the Bears a 4-0 lead, followed
by a goal from senior forward Jen Hooven (Lancaster,
Pa./Lancaster Catholic) at 43:36. Sophomore forward
Alyssa Thren (Barto, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) assisted
on Hooven's goal.
The final goal came at 62:35 as Wimmer scored on an assist from
Yoder.
Senior goalkeeper Erica Scott (Carney's Point, N.J./St.
Elizabeth) and junior goalkeeper LauraLee
Lightwood-Mater (Bethlehem, Pa./George School) split time
in goal, each making a save.
Ursinus has a short turnaround as the Bears take on West Chester in
the annual Snell Cup game at noon Sunday.
