COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Ursinus got two goals from senior forward
Jessica Zatwarnicki (Reading, Pa./Exeter) as the
third-ranked Bears (19-2) advanced to the NCAA Division III
Quarterfinals with a 4-0 shutout over 10th-ranked
Lynchburg (18-5) on Saturday morning at Eleanor Frost Snell Alumnae
Field.
Zatwarnicki scored in the 10th and 16th
minute, and also added an assist as the Bears advanced to the NCAA
quarterfinals for the second straight season.
Zatwarnicki scored at 10:45 on a tip, following a pass from junior
midfielder Megan Yoder (Lititz, Pa./Lancaster
Mennonite) for a 1-0 lead.
Senior forward Jen Hooven (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster
Catholic) assisted on Zatwarnicki's second goal at 16:52
for a 2-0 lead.
In the second half, Ursinus got on the board at 41:05 as junior
midfielder Bridget Resetco (West Chester, Pa./Downingtown
West) scored on the assist from Zatwarnicki for a 3-0
lead.
The final goal came with 27 seconds left as junior midfielder
Michelle Wimmer (Palm, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) scored
her 16th goal of the season.
Lynchburg, who was held to one shot in the first 35 minutes, fired
off 15 shots in the second half. Six of those shots were stopped by
senior goalkeeper Erica Scott (Carney's Point, N.J./St.
Elizabeth).
Senior goalkeeper Sarah Cates had six saves for the Hornets, who
were outshot 23-16.
