COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Sophomore defensive end Ryan Bodolus added another accolade to his name behind his historic performance Saturday as he was named to the D3football.com team of the week, announced by the website on Tuesday morning.
Bodolus earned one of the two defensive end spots on the team after recording a Bears single-game record of six sacks against Dickinson on Saturday afternoon. He was originally credited with five sacks before being awarded a record-breaking sixth sack via a stat correction on Monday afternoon. He broke the previous record of five sacks that was previously held by Paul Schmidt in 2001 against FDU-Florham, and Josh Kemp in 2003 against McDaniel. He also registered a season-high nine tackles against the Red Devils.
The Pottsgrove product was also awarded Centennial Conference defensive player of the week on Sunday morning. Bodolus becomes the second Bear this season to be named to the D3football.com team of the week after freshman cornerback Aaron Anderson was placed on it following the Bears 42-35 upset of Muhlenberg back on September 18th.
Ursinus will close out their regular season on Saturday, November 20th as they will travel to face Lycoming in the Centennial-MAC Bowl series at 12:30 p.m.
