LANCASTER, Pa. – Behind a single-game record tying performance, Ursinus football sophomore defensive end Ryan Bodolus was named Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Sunday morning.

Bodolus tied the Bears single-game program record for sacks in a game with five in a 27-20 overtime loss to Dickinson on Saturday afternoon. It was the most sacks in a game for a Bears player since Josh Kemp posted five against McDaniel in 2003, and Bodolus became the third player in program history to record five sacks in a single game. Paul Schmidt was the first Ursinus football player to record five sacks in a game back in 2001 against FDU-Florham. Bodolus also matched his season-high of eight tackles against the Red Devils.

The Pottstown, Pennsylvania native raised his season total up to 8.5 sacks on the season in his first season on the team, and currently ranks third in the Centennial Conference. It is the first time he has received a weekly accolade from the Centennial, and the third Bear to earn a player of the week award after senior Samuel Ragland and freshman Aaron Anderson swept the awards back on September 19th.

The Bears will await a probable selection to the Centennial-MAC Bowl Series that will be held on Saturday, November 20th.
