Worrilow Honored on Academic All-Area Team

PHILADELPHIA – Ursinus College senior James Worrilow (Wilmington, Del./Concord) has been named to the 2015 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Football Team, joining 24 similarly accomplished student-athletes on a select group voted upon by the sports information offices of 30 institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

Worrilow scripted a strong senior season on the Bears' defensive line, finishing fourth on the team and 18th in the Centennial Conference with 65 tackles, including two for loss, while starting all 10 games. A team captain, he was named the conference's Defensive Player of the Week after recording 15 tackles in the season-opening, five-overtime victory over Division II Millersville. Worrilow finished his career with 97 tackles (4 for loss) and a fumble recovery for Ursinus, which went 3-7 overall and 2-7 in conference play in 2015.

A member of the Beta Beta Beta National Biological Honor Society as well as both the Science National Honor Society and Spanish National Society, Worrilow carries a 3.53 cumulative grade-point average as a biology major. He was selected to the Centennial Conference's Fall Academic Honor Roll for the first time this year and is a four-time Dean's List member.

Penn was well represented on the Academic All-Area team, with seven players leading all area schools. Worrilow was joined in receiving recognition by the Quakers' Nick Demes, Ian Dobbins, Jimmy Gammill, Daniil Lysenko, Dan Poulos, Brian Schoenauer, and Tanner Thexton; Widener's Blaine Price, Steve Gozur, Ryan O'Hara, and Stacey Sunnerville; Villanova's Don Cherry, Jake Prus, Kevin Gulyas, and Tanoh Kpassagnon; Temple's John Christopher, Kyle Friend, and Nick Sharga; Rowan's Darren Dungee and Withler Marcelin; West Chester's Andrew Cohen and Kyle Keyser; and Delaware Valley's Nick Wright. Cherry, Christopher, Friend, Gulyas, and Sunnerville were three-time selections, with Cherry joining Prus and Price as unanimous choices.
