Four Football Seniors Earn All-CC Honors

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Four members of Ursinus College football's senior class once again took their place among the conference elite, all garnering repeat appearances on the All-Centennial Conference Team released this morning. Defensive lineman Steve Ambs (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) and defensive back Kyle Adkins (Holland, Pa./Archbishop Wood) represented the Bears on the First Team, each earning his third consecutive all-conference honor. They were joined by Eric Boyer (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin), who was both the first-team punter and kicker after another standout season. Linebacker James Roccograndi (Dallas, Pa./Dallas) was named to the Second Team.

Ambs (top left) made his second straight first-team appearance after a second-team nod in 2013. He led Ursinus in sacks (4.5, T-7th CC), tackles for loss (13.5, 3rd CC), and forced fumbles (3, 2nd CC) in another dominating season on the defensive line. Ambs also recovered a fumble and blocked a kick. Ambs finished his decorated career with 241 tackles (53 for loss), 24.5 sacks, nine forced fumbles, and five fumble recoveries.

Adkins (bottom right) was a second-teamer each of the past two years before advancing to the first team in 2015. He was third on the team – and tied for 11th in the league – with 74 tackles, 8.5 of them for a loss. Adkins matched Ambs for the team lead with 4.5 sacks and came up with three interceptions, tied for ninth in the conference. He had a pick in each of Ursinus' three victories this season, and notched a pair of sacks in each of the final two games, the last a 28-20 triumph at Dickinson. He was named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week after collecting three tackles for loss and an interception in the Bears' 10-9 loss to Muhlenberg on November 7. Adkins closes his career with eight interceptions, 14 pass breakups, 185 tackles (18.5 for loss), and 10 sacks.

Boyer (bottom left) once again proved his value as one of the Centennial Conference's top legs, leading the league in punting with a 39.7 average, including a long of 58 yards. A first-team punter a year agom Boyer also topped the conference with 10 made field goals and was third in scoring with 45 points after going 15-for-18 on extra points. He was the Centennial Conference Special Teams Player of the Week after drilling three field goals in the narrow setback to the Mules, the longest a 40-yarder, and also earned the league's top honor in the Week 4 release. Boyer made 37 field goals over his four years with the Bears, and went 117-for-131 (89.3%) on extra points for a total of 228 points.

A second-team honoree for the second consecutive season, Roccograndi (top right) was a tackling machine in the middle of the Bear defense, racking up 83 stops to rank seventh among conference players. He had five tackles for loss (including two sacks) and an interception and broke up two passes. Roccograndi finished his Ursinus career with 224 tackles (15.5 TFL), 5.5 sacks, a forced fumble, three fumble recoveries, and two interceptions.
