Football falls to Susquehanna, 48-21

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna scored the first 38 points of the game as the Crusaders (3-4, 2-4 Centennial) defeated Ursinus (2-5, 1-5 Centennial) 48-21 Saturday afternoon.

The Crusaders ran 86 plays for 498 yards including 214 on the ground in the win. Kyle Neuschatz ran for two scores, while quarterback Nick Crusco threw for two more.

Ursinus was led by senior quarterback Nick Lundholm (Barrington, N.J./Haddon Heights) who threw for 166 yards on 16-for-36 passing. Freshman wide out Asa Manley (Philadelphia, Pa./Northeast rushed for 69 yards on 14 carries, while also catching four passes for 36 yards and a score. Manley also had an 80-yard kickoff in the second quarter that set up Ursinus' first score.

Junior running back Corey Kelly (Conshohocken, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh) rushed for one touchdown, scoring Ursinus' first points with 2:01 left in the second quarter that made the score 38-7. After Manley's big return, Lundholm completed an 18-yard pass to junior wide receiver Matthew Raymond (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) to the Crusader 1-yard line setting up first-and-goal. Kelly would then score on the next play.

The Bears would outscore the Crusaders 14-10 in the second half, as Lundholm scored on a 7-yard run with 10:01 left in the fourth. That score ended a ten-play, 59-yard drive that ate up 1:59 on the clock. The big play on the drive was a 28-yard completion to Raymond from Lundholm.

Ursinus' final score came with 29 seconds left as Manley scored on a 5-yard pass from Lundholm. That score came off a turnover as senior defensive back Kyle Adkins (Holland, Pa./Archbishop Wood) recovered a Matt Thies' fumble at the Susquehanna 49-yard line. Manley would have five straight rushes on that drive, before catching the touchdown.

Defensively, junior linebacker Tim Rafter (Springfield, Pa./St. Joseph's Prep) had 11 tackles while senior defensive back Steve Ambs (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) and senior linebacker James Roccograndi (Dallas, Pa./Dallas) each had nine tackles. Ambs had four tackles for losses of 16 yards.

Ursinus heads to Johns Hopkins next Saturday.
