Football dropped by Juniata, 28-7

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Juniata junior quarterback Ward Udinski threw for three touchdowns and rushed for another as the Eagles (4-2, 3-2 Centennial) handed Ursinus (5-1, 4-1 Centennial) a 28-7 loss Saturday afternoon.

Udinski threw for 324 yards and three scores on 25-for-36 passing and rushed for 97 yards.

Ursinus was led by junior quarterback Kevin Monahan who threw for 175 yards in the second half on 20-of-41 passing.

Senior quarterback Chris Curran, who played the first half, threw for 80 yards but became the school's all-time leader in passing yards. He passed the mark, which was set by Frank Vecchio in 2000 at 5,354. He is now at 5,434 yards for his career.

The lone score for Ursinus was a 1-yard run by senior running back Jason Golderer in the 3rd quarter with 13:17 left.

Sophomore defensive end Steve Ambs finished with a game-high nine tackles, and was named the Kenneth R. Walker Trophy winner. The trophy is awarded to the most outstanding player in the Homecoming game.

Despite the loss, Ursinus did force four Eagle turnovers.

Juniata got on the board 3:16 into the game when Udinski threw a 50-yard pass to freshman wide receiver Davon Mitchell to cap a three-play, 60-yard drive. The second touchdown came on a 49-yard off tackle run by Udinski with 27 seconds left for a 14-0 lead.

In the second quarter, Udinski threw a 6-yard pass to junior wide receiver Colton Myers with 9:58 left for a 21-0 lead, with Udinski's final TD pass coming with 1:38 left in the first half to junior wide out Kyle Shuck for a 28-0 lead.

Ursinus ran a total of 86 plays for 270 yards. Juniata ran 70 plays for 470 total offensive yards.
