BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Ursinus darted out to a 42-10 lead in the third quarter, only to see Moravian rally back to within eight before the Bears (5-0, 4-0 Centennial) defeated the Greyhounds (0-5, 0-4 Centennial) 52-44 Saturday afternoon in a wild affair at Rocco Calvo Field.

The Bears enter the conference wide bye week with a 5-0 mark for the second time in the last four seasons and remain in a first place tie with Johns Hopkins atop the standings.

Junior quarterback Kevin Monahan (East Windsor, N.J./Hightstown) made his first start a memorable one as he threw for 383 yards and four scores on 25-for-35 passing.

Senior wide out Jerry Rahill (Chalfont, Pa./Archbishop Wood) caught a game-high 12 passes for 140 yards and a score, while junior wide receiver Darius Jones (Lawnside, N.J./Haddon Heights) caught four passes for 101 yard and a touchdown.

Senior running back Jason Golderer (Philadelphia, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) rushed for two scores and 101 yards.

Defensively, freshman linebacker Tim Rafter (Springfield, Pa./St. Joseph's Prep) recovered a fumble in the end zone for a score, while senior defensive lineman Austin Fox (Drexel Hill, Pa./Upper Darby) and sophomore defensive back Kyle Adkins (Holland, Pa./Archbishop Wood) each had eight stops. Adkins also had a fumble recovery that sealed the game late in the fourth quarter, a fumble that was forced by junior defensive back Matt Glowacki (Spring City, Pa./Spring-City).

Moravian quarterback Robbie Moyer threw for 113 yards, while Chris Negron ran for 164 yards and a score for the Greyhounds.

Like most games, Ursinus held the ball as the Bears had a 40:54 time of possession total while running 80 plays for 529 yards.

Ursinus took the opening drive and scored nine plays later when Golderer rushed from 2-yards out for a 7-0 lead with 10:49 left.

Ursinus' next score was set up when sophomore defensive back Dysean Alexander (Bethlehem, Pa./Moravian Academy) intercepted Moyer at the Moravian 41. One play later, Monahan threw a 41-yard pass to Jones for a 14-0 lead with 9:52 left.

The Bears went up 21-0 with 6:40 left as Monahan threw a career-long 75 yard pass to junior wide receiver Josh Williams (Jamison, Pa./Central Bucks South) for a score.

Moravian would get on the board with 4:23 left when Larry Spann rushed from 28 yards out making the score 21-7.

An eight-play, 67-yard drive for the Bears ended six seconds into the second quarter when senior wide out Ryan Lynady (Morrisville, Pa./Notre Dame) caught a 15-yard pass from Monahan for a 28-7 lead.

Moravian answered with a 24-yard field goal from David Flumara with 12:31 left.

Another long drive, this time a 13-play, 57-yard drive for Ursinus ended with Monahan throwing a ten-yard pass to Rahill for a 35-10 halftime lead.

Moravian would fumble on its first play of the second half, leading to Rafter's recovery in the end zone and a 42-10 lead with 14:46 left.

Moravian would get its next score on a fumble by the Bears as after Golderer fumbled at the Ursinus 38, Negron rushed from 29 yards out two plays later making the score 42-17 with 11:51 left.

Moravian scored again when Monahan was intercepted by Richard Kugel at the Bears' 35 and he returned it into the end zone, putting Moravian within 42-24 with 10:28 left.

Another Monahan interception, this time by Kevin Bracken at the Ursinus 39, gave Moravian the ball at the Bears' 42 with 8:13 left. Eight plays later, Moyer rushed from four-yards out for a 42-30 Ursinus lead.

Right on cue, Ursinus went on an extended 14-play, 79-yard drive that ate up 6:47, capped by a 17-yard run from Golderer with 13:18 left and a 49-30 Ursinus lead.

Moyer threw a 13-yard pass to Jimmy McCarthy with 11:41 left that put Moravian within 12 at 49-37.

A field goal from sophomore kicker Eric Boyer (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin), this one from 38-yards out gave Ursinus a buffer as the Bears led 52-37 with 5:19 left. That buffer turned out to be needed as Moravian came right
back and scored with 4:49 left as Negron rushed from midfield for a touchdown putting the Greyhounds within eight at 52-44.

Ursinus was able to bleed the clock down to 2:32, before turning it back over to the Greyhounds at their own 36.

On the second play from scrimmage, Glowacki forced a fumble at midfield that was recovered by Adkins as the Greyhound 48.

From there, Ursinus was able to run out the clock.

Ursinus' defensive unit held Moravian to 29 percent on third downs.
