LANCASTER, PA. - After an outstanding pitching performance last week, Ursinus baseball's junior Casey Murphy was named Centennial Conference Pitcher of the Week, announced by the conference Tuesday morning.

Murphy picked up a win and a save in two appearances on the mound for the Bears last week. On Tuesday against Muhlenberg, he allowed just three hits in seven shutout innings and struck out 10 batters. It marked his second double-digit strikeout performance of the season. Murphy also came in to record a save in the Bears 4-2 win over McDaniel on Saturday, striking out the only batter he faced for the final out.

The Merion Station, Pennsylvania native has started seven games this season and holds a 3-2 record. Murphy currently sits among the top of the conference in ERA (4th, 2.97), strikeouts (7th, 40) and innings pitched (7th, 39.1).

This is the first time that Murphy has earned a weekly accolade from the conference, and he is the second Bear to earn a weekly award this season after Kieran Hollander earned the honors back on April 5th.

The Bears return to action this afternoon as they will travel to take on Swarthmore at 3:30pm.
