CAMDEN, NJ. - On a windy and rainy afternoon, the Ursinus College baseball team dropped their second consecutive game after falling to Rutgers-Camden 13-5 on Thursday.

The Raptors took advantage of the sloppy afternoon capitalizing on three Bears' errors and six free passes from Ursinus pitchers for their fourth consecutive victory.

With the loss, the Bears fall to 7-12 on the season and will look to bounce back for their conference opener Saturday at Johns Hopkins. Meanwhile, the Raptors of the New Jersey Athletic Conference improved to 11-7 overall.

Each team struggled through the first two innings as senior pitcher Alex Crocamo and Rutgers-Camden's starter Nick Diaz only allowed one hit.

Freshman catcher Billy Breslin led off the third inning with a double to left field. Jordan Williams advanced Breslin 90 feet after a sacrifice bunt and Jakob Cantor issued a free pass on the ensuing at-bat. With only one out, Keegan Stem scored Breslin with a sacrifice bunt back to the mound for the early 1-0 lead. The Raptors answered with two runs in the bottom half of the inning after an error scored Auggie Uzdanovics and Connor Van Dine drove in another run with a double to right center.

Rutgers-Camden took control of the game in the fourth inning after hanging up seven runs to make the score 9-1. In the fourth, the Bears issued four free passes and allowed four base hits as most of the runs came across with one out in the inning. Diaz started to settle in for Rutgers-Camden as he retired the Bears in order in the fifth after a strikeout and two groundouts.

Ursinus was able to scrap two runs on the board in the sixth inning, after Dylan Crammer drove in Stem with a double to right center. Crammer later scored after Branden Melendez grounded out to third base. The Raptors answered right back with two runs in the seventh inning, after a hit by pitch scored Van Fine from third and Jesse Gerdes reached base via an error scoring Andrew Brown.

The Bears added two more runs in the ninth, but the damage was done as Ursinus fell 13-5. Five different Bears recorded a hit in the contest as Melendez and Stem each went 1 for 2 with an RBI.

The Bears will return to action on Saturday as they travel to face Johns Hopkins for a doubleheader starting at 1pm.
