SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The middle innings for Ursinus were gold as the Bears scored all 12 of their runs between the third and sixth innings in a 12-6 win over Swarthmore (17-15, 4-12 Centennial) on Friday afternoon.
The Bears (17-13, 7-9 Centennial) matched their win total from last season and achieved their first winning season since 2009 (25-11).
Three players finished with three hits, as shortstop Devyn Kerr, second baseman Kieren Geyer and centerfielder Jose Colon all had three hits. Colon finished with three RBI, and a triple, while third baseman CJ Diana had two RBI.
Sean Pisik did the job on the mound, improving to 5-1 with a six strikeout, one walk performance.
Ursinus scored two in the third, with catcher Vince Terry doubled down the left field line, scoring Colon. Terry would later score on a sacrifice fly by first baseman Chris Jablonski.
In the fourth, Colon doubled to left scoring Kerr, while Colon and Austin Kurey would score on a two-run single by Travis Kozak.
In the fifth, Kerr, Geyer, Diana and Kurey all had RBI as the Bears increased the lead to 9-0.
In the sixth, Diana was hit by a pitch forcing in James Hoff, while Jablonski and Kerr later scored on a RBI single by Colon.
Ursinus will host McDaniel on Saturday for Senior Day.
