DeSales rallies to beat Baseball, 6-5

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – DeSales scored three times in the bottom of the ninth to get a walk-off, 6-5 win over Ursinus in a non-conference game on Thursday afternoon at Butz Field.

For Ursinus, senior third baseman Vince Rondolone (Havertown, Pa./The Haverford School) went 3-for-5 with a run scored and two RBI, while sophomore shortstop CJ Diana (Chester, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) went 2-for-4, as did freshman outfielder Travis Kozak (Farmington, Conn./Avon Old Farms) and junior first baseman Chris Jablonski (Galloway, N.J./St. Augustine Prep).

Ursinus took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second when sophomore catcher Travis Strano (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) hit a double to right center scoring sophomore centerfielder Jose Colon (Bay Shore, N.J./Bay Shore). Strano would later score on a RBI single by Kozak.

After DeSales cut the lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth, Ursinus got one back in the fifth as Rondolone scored on a throwing error.

Ursinus took a 5-1 lead in the sixth when Rondolone hit a two-run single that scored Diana and Strano.

Freshman right hander Pierce Greenleaf (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East) started the game, pitching three innings and allowing just three hits. Sophomore Connor Moriarty (Mahwah, N.J./Don Bosco Prep) took the loss, as he gave up three runs 1.1 innings to fall to 0-2.

Ursinus finishes the Swarthmore series on Friday, before hosting McDaniel on Saturday.
