Baseball slides past Swarthmore, 11-2

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus sophomore outfielder Timo Muro (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) went 4-for-5 with three runs scored and three RBI as the Bears (16-12, 6-9 Centennial) snapped a three-game skid with an 11-2 win over Swarthmore (17-14, 4-11 Centennial) on Tuesday afternoon.

The Bears rapped out 14 hits, with sophomore catcher Vincent Terry (Beesley's Point, N.J./Ocean City) going 3-for-5 with three runs scored and a RBI, while senior infielder Vince Rondolone (Havertown, Pa./Haverford School) and sophomore second baseman Kieren Geyer (Redding, Conn./Joel Barlow) each getting two hits.

Sophomore pitcher Seth Regensburg (Pottstown, Pa./Hill School) limited Swarthmore to just three hits in the win, as he struck out five and walked one in eight innings of work to improve to 3-2.

Ursinus scored three runs in the first inning, as Terry reached on a single to left, then stole second. He would eventually come around on two wild pitches. Junior first baseman Chris Jablonski (Galloway, N.J./St. Augustine Prep) would later score on a balk, while Muro would score the third run of the inning on a sac fly by Rondolone.

In the sixth, Muro homered to left center to make the score 4-0.

In the seventh, Ursinus busted the game open with five runs, including RBI hits from Terry, Muro, Rondolone and a RBI ground out by Jablonski.

Ursinus added two more in the eighth, with Terry and sophomore outfielder Jay Farrell (Newtown Square, Pa./Episcopal) scoring on hits by Muro and sophomore CJ Diana (Chester, N.J./Seton Hall Prep).

Ursinus will head to DeSales on Wednesday, before finishing the series on Friday with the Garnet.
